Our history
Lady Vintage was created in 2011 by husband and wife duo Sergio and Victoria Andreou, with a vision to create high quality UK made vintage inspired dresses that were affordable and unique.

Sergio’s family have been in the London ‘rag trade’ for over 60 years, across three generations, so you can be rest assured that we know what we are doing! Sergio’s maternal grandmother Christalla travelled all the way from Cyprus to London in 1953, at the age of just 21 on the promise from a friend (who she conversed with only by letter) that she would be able to get a job in a factory in Warren Street, making garments for Marks & Spencer. Having never left Cyprus, or ever having gone on an overseas in any way, Christalla spent 10 days on a ship, on her own, on the way to her new life. Using only the skills she had been taught by her mother, Christalla spent fifteen happy years working in the London factory.

To this day, Lady Vintage is very much a family affair, built on ‘old school’ techniques, still all made by hand ‘the proper way’!
Our team
After many years working as a chef, Sergio took a leap of faith to move away from a job he had fallen out of love with and, with the help of £2000 loaned to him from his grandmother, took the decision to start up his own clothing company. Beginning on a market stall, and with just a few boxes of our first designs of the original ‘Lady V Swing Dress’ all housed in a spare bedroom, the Lady Vintage brand was born!

Victoria, who previously worked as a classically trained pianist, worked alongside Sergio in the evenings and on weekends to create and build the Lady Vintage brand. Quickly out-growing their home and needing more space for the dresses, the business moved in to it’s first proper commercial premises - which happened to be an upstairs room in an old laundry factory that used to wash the linens for the visiting cruise liners in Southampton - including the Titanic! It was our first proper Lady V home, the only downside was having to carry the dresses up the stairs each week!

Around this time, with Sergio’s keen sense for business, and Victoria’s help - the first ladyvlondon.com website went live, and the Lady V brand became available to buy across the world - and oh my, did it go viral! With the first collection selling out in a matter of days, we had a website but no stock!

Moving our manufacturing to London had always been a strong desire for us, and in June 2013 we made the bold move to stop manufacturing in the EU and move all of our production to London. It meant that we could better control the quality of our stock, and manufacturing times would significantly decrease. Plus, with Sergio’s uncle still working in garment manufacturing in London - it showed a commitment to keeping this tradition alive.

2013 was a big year for us! Not only did we move all our manufacturing to London, we also grew into a second unit in the old laundry factory, but the highlight was having our dresses appear on the BBC One Strictly Come Dancing - The Swing-a-thon Group Dance!

After several years of the 200 mile round trips twice a week, it became clear that the Lady Vintage brand was continuing to grow and certain changes needed to be made, so in 2014 Victoria joined the company full time giving up her career as a musician, and both Sergio and Victoria moved both their business and their home closer to the factory so that they could regularly visit. Lady V now had a new home, and for the first time we no longer had to carry our weekly deliveries of dresses up a flight of stairs!!

By 2019 the Lady V team has grown and both Sergio and Victoria couldn’t be prouder of the team we have. Lady V is blessed to have thousands of happy and loyal customers all over the world, and we simply love seeing all the amazing photos of the parties, weddings and special occasions that you send us. We thank you for the support that you have given us over the years to help us become of the world’s leading vintage reproduction brands.
All dress designs are designed in house at Lady V HQ by Sergio and Victoria, with Victoria taking the lead more in this department. Her aim is to produce styles that are flattering and feminine, and fit all types of the modern figure - but in that classic vintage silhouette.

All print designs are designed in house. Print designs have always been unique to Lady V and are what keep our customers coming back time and time again, unable to resist the latest dress in that signature Lady V print.
The London Factory
Having our factory based in London, we are able to liaise directly with the workers and oversee quality control ourselves - meaning that Lady Vintage dresses will be of the highest quality. Our turnaround time for dresses is also extremely quick, meaning we are able to introduce new dresses, and restock popular dresses even quicker! Beginning manufacturing all our dresses in London back in 2013 - we believe we are pioneers in this field, by being able to make all our garments in the UK but maintain our affordable prices. With your support we can keep garment manufacturing here in the UK and help boost London’s manufacturing industry.
